The inspiration for Black Death Wish is a quote from
Welsh poet Jeuan Gethin describing his death from the
Bubonic Plague in 1349. Descending like smoke into our
mist, for this pain I did not wish... More inspiration
comes from Edgar Allan Poe, Black Sabbath and the
Beatles. Growing up in Birmingham Alabama in a family
of steelworkers and coal miners, living in the shadow of the
smoke belching steel mills, gave an affinity and deep
appreciation of Black Sabbaths' dark heavy music. 70’s
AM radio gave a love of melody and harmony. Five years
of writing and recording were distilled during a summer of
COVID induced isolation. BDW uses old, tuned-down
Gibson guitars, vintage fuzz tones, Fender and Orange
amps and a dash of melody to build a classic heavy
sound….What sin did I do to meet this fate. Black is my
soul, now full of hate. Black Death Wish
